After more than a year of shutdown due to Covid-19, the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce plans for our 6th Annual Summer Causeway Run, set to be held Saturday, Sept. 18th. Usually held the first Saturday in June, it was decided to move the event to September to allow more time for people to be vaccinated.
The 5K walk and 10K run will start at the Port Isabel Community Center, cross the Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge, and end at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island. The route is the same one that is used for the Annual January Causeway Run & Fitness Walk this year. The run will start promptly at 8 am and the walk will start 15 minutes later. Thousands of participants are expected to turn out.
“Everyone participating in the event will received a custom finishers medal commemorating the event, says Chamber President Betty Wells. Our medals have a stained glass look and have been very popular,”
Entry fees for the run start at $25 for students and military with ID, $35 for walkers and $40 for runners.
